Friends
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a baby shower. The baby shower was for an old school friend of mine. I decided to knit something up. Unfortunately, I couldn't go to shower due to a previously planned event. So, my mother took my gift to the shower. My mother and her mother are very close. They've been close ever since we were five.
As I said , this was a couple of weeks ago. When I finished the sweater, I photographed it with the intention of writing a post about it but it never happened. I knit up the Baby Kimono by Kristin Spurkland from the Summer 2005 issue of Interweave Knits. It came out so cute too. This was a very easy pattern. Nothing but mindless garter stitch. A great project to sit and watch Murder She Wrote to . I've become mildly addicted to it since it's made a reappearance on the Hallmark Channel. Anyway, according to my mom, the sweater was the hit of the shower. The baby is expected to be a boy and due in November.

Since I labeled this post Friends, I had to include a paragraph on Kayla and her best friend J. My cousin Monique (Kayla's mom) emailed me a picture of Kayla and J during a recent trip to Six Flags. My cousin took them to one of those dress-up booths and had their picture taken in Bonnie & Clyde outfits. As I said, Kayla and J are best friends, that's right, best friends. You should see the two of them together. They love to play with each other. They talk to each other, I mean full-blown conversations with the gestures and emotion. (I wish I could understand what they were saying.) They comfort each other when the other one cries. (The other is always standing by, with open arms ready to give a hug.) They mope around when the other ones isn't there. Right now , Kayla's 2 and J will be 2 in a couple of months. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Kayla goes off to pre-school. Kayla has another year til pre-school comes into the picture, but when that day comes I hope their friendship continues.

I've been remiss in not commenting on your last few posts but I have to say everything you've done looks fabulous (not that I ever have any doubts). I know you must be excited about your upcoming vacation ;-). So keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the other jaywalker when it's done.

I discovered your post through whipup.net and just LOVE the kimono! I think I might have to get hold of that magazine here in Germany somehow and knit it, too :)
