Tutu Tea Cozy
Two weeks can go by so quickly. Sorry for the absence. A week and a half ago I was in a car accident. Thank God it wasn't serious. My car had some minor damage, which has now been fixed.
Over the last two weeks I've managed to fit in some knitting. The Friday before spring break vacation, a coworker took some fellow coworkers and I out to dinner. At the end of the meal she decided to pay for everything. As a thank you, I decided to make her the Tutu Tea Cozy from Knit 2 Together by Tracy Ullman and Mel Clark. I love to flip through this book. The patterns look so nice. I purchased the book during a trunk show at PURL. When I first saw the cozy, I knew I wanted to make it. I love the little tutu's. The pattern calls for Rowan's Soft Lux and GGH's Soft Kid, both incredibly soft. I love the feel of them both. The gold strand in the Soft Lux adds a nice touch as well.

Although I did have a good time knitting this up I did have a few problems. First, I had some issues with the gauge. The gauge given in the book is 4 sts to the inch. I found that knitting in this gauge gave me a very loose fabric. As I tried my half-finished cozy on, it was way too big for the pot I had. So I ripped it out and cast on with smaller needles. Bottom Line: check your gauge.
Second, after completing the body of the cozy and tying it on the pot, the bottom rose causing a gap. As a result I decided to add ties to the bottom. When tied at the top, the tie at the bottom pulls the cozy down allowing it to hug the teapot.

I started Isabella's sweater. Blue Sky's Organic Cotton is so lovely to knit with. Happy Knitting!

I had been checking in and wondering where you been hiding!
I am glad everything is okay with your car.
I see your knitting did not come to a hault. You just make the cutest things!
I now can't wait to see the sweater!

Hey there!
Your tea cozy is the prettiest thing, and would make a great Mother's Day gift for some moms I know. Now, if only I could grow a third hand.:)

I must say that the Tutu Tea Cozy is BEAUTIFUL. As a sister knitter and educator, I must tell you, I love your work. It takes me forever to complete any of my knitting tasks. I've been working on a wrap for 2 years so I have become a vicarious knitter through your blog.
